YOU GOTTA FIGHT! FOR YOUR RIGHT!: Beastie Boy Picks Up “No Impact Man” Movie
Oscilloscope Laboratories has picked up the rights to the No Impact Man documentary, based on the compulsive blog, that we’ve all been waiting for. Oscilloscope is the distribution label started by Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA, founding member of the Beastie Boys and a vocal environmental advocate (remember that movie he distributed about water that provoked Nestle in 2008?). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yauch said, in regard to No Impact Man, it was “the first time I’ve seen an environmentally concerned film with a strong comedic element. I still think about it every time I go to the supermarket.” Back...

BRAZILIAN ECO-HIP HOP
Hit from checktheweather.net: Research on eco-hip hop, brought me to this dope video from the Brazilian group Esquecimiento Total. We’re all aware that Brazil’s environmental justice fight is a deep history that’s lasted generations – similar to the rest of Latin America, and really the Third World, at that, Brazil’s fights have pitted state/corporate interests against the survival of indigenous communities and their culture & lifestyle for decades. A lot of times we see global warming injustices framed as rich country vs. poor, but we can’t forget the battles communities around the world are fighting within their own borders. Check out...

This particular concert that we happened to check out was for none other than THE FRAY. And later this summer we will be joining REVERB once again as they go on tour with JOHN LEGEND. More about REVERB...
Say Hello! The WOOD iPOD
This re-covered iPod is almost like hugging a tree, except it fits in the palm of your hand. So perhaps it’s more like giving a tree a handshake and hearing your favorite tunes at the same time. Josh D, from Australia, took his Apple iPod Mini apart and built a brand new case from red cedar to update the otherwise outdated gadget into a stylish, natural, and woodsy example of heirloom design. Rather than just recycling his old trusty iPod Mini when Josh got a new one, he decided to take care of a little mini project he had been meaning to do for...

HOT 97 + YOUR ENVIRONMENT + YOU
We don’t know how this escaped the radar for so long, but our favorite hip hop radio station in NYC, Hot 97 has a huge Green Initiative! This is unbelievably exciting considering Hot 97 has the best DJs in NYC, plays the best in contemporary and throw back mainstream hip hop and R&B music, and now they are putting on all their listeners to green tips and ideas. Some of their initiatives included an event on March 20th partnering with TerraCycle, where a FREE iTunes downloads for every 4 vinyl records or 8 CDs turned in, instead of thrown...
