The National Environment Agency’s (NEA) Eco Music Challenge 2011 wrapped up with a bang with the Finale Concert at Orchard Central on 27 August 2011. The agency received more than 300 quality song entries from more than 900 youths in the second season of its eco song-writing competition at Orchard Central on 27 August 2011.
We are encouraged by the positive response. We hope that riding on this success, we can continue to develop creative ways to engage the youth and empower them to create content that will promote the environment to their peers and the larger community, said Andrew Tan, Chief Executive Officer of NEA.
Amongst them, 13 songs stood out and emerged as the finalists who vied for the title of Clean & Green Singapore 2012 theme song at the Eco Music Challenge Finale Concert. Julian Kwok, Sold Out Lies (Jason Hui), Gdmorning (Darren Lee), 86&7 (G.Q.), 6th Avenue (Zuher Razali), Judah Lyne, Nelson Tan, Teo Seng Loong, Cynthia Lim, Lee Fengheng, Joel Foo, Justina Tan and Riza Hamizan rocked their performances, displaying awesome showmanship along with their entries.
Lee Fengheng won the competition with his song “World Without Fences,” which will be the NEA’s Clean and Green Singapore 2012’s official theme song. “World Without Fences” will be accompanied with an exciting music video on 29 October 2011 during the campaign’s launch. Don’t forget to watch out for it.
The Eco Music Challenge signifies NEA’s new approach in using music as an emotional link between youth and the environment, touching their hearts and minds on environmental awareness and ownership. It underpins the Clean & Green Singapore (CGS) campaign that hopes to inspire Singaporeans to adopt eco-practices as an integral part of their daily lives.
