The first bands have been announced for this year’s eco music festival Rocking the Daisies at Cloof Wine Estate in Darling, Western Cape.
Some of the bands who have so far confirmed are The Arrows, Foto Na Dans, Shadowclub, and Tumi and the Volume. There are many others on the line up, including Belleruche from the UK.
The festival, geared towards showcasing the best of local music while keeping it green, has been running since 2005 and is this year sponsored by Wrigley’s 5 Gum.
It has won the SA Climate Change Leadership Award for positive voluntary action by implementing a range of activities to combat global warming by powering much of the festival through wind energy.
There is even a group, Walking the Daises, which comprises of a group of people who walk to the festival instead of driving there, as well as Cycle to Daisies, where cyclists can ride their bikes along a specified route to the festival.
Rocking the Daisies is to take place from October 7 to 9 2011.
