The Urth Caffé is an organic coffee company that exclusively carries its own brand of premium, fresh roasted whole bean organic coffee, and hand selected fine teas sold under strict quality and ethical standards. Not a coffee or tea person, go for the food! At first I was a bit turned off by the trendiness of this well known melrose restaurant – often featured in shows like Entourage and The Hills, but that’s only because I hadn’t discovered their downtown location! Usually frequented by your local downtown officers, Silverlake hipsters, and students from campuses near by, it is much more chill than the Melrose location, offering the same menu, same outdoor seating, and less fuss!

Everything that the cafe offers is 100% organic. I personally go just for the iced soy lattes, the green boba tea (sans the boba balls), the fresh squeezed carrot juice (full of vitamin A and amazing for your skin), the salads, the pastries, the pumpkin pie and the multigrain waffles. It is a pricey cup of coffee, but once you go it’ll be hard going back to anything else. Trust me. I’ve made the 10 minute drive to Urth over the Starbucks on my block for no real logical reason at all other than for an iced latte.

And the best part – order right when you walk in, sit down where you please, and you’ll be enjoying your meal within fifteen minutes. The staff is beyond attentative and friendly. And whatever you don’t finish! Take it to go in their plastic compostable containers.

This place is a must. Whether you are going to pick up a drink on the go, meet a friend for a healthy meal outside, or study in a quiet corner inside. Coming from my mouth – this place is trendy for a reason. But don’t be deterred as I once was, and start your Urth experience at the downtown location.
