Lately, I’ve been all about the finishing touch. There are two steps that, even in the dead of winter, can make you look fresh as a daisy. One is misting your face with water. The other is dabbing on a luminizer. Karlie Kloss got me thinking about luminizers last summer, when she divulged that Pat McGrath is never without her “Shiny Stick” (Madina Chic & Shine, from Italy). Then, another trendsetting makeup artist told me that he loves ModelCo’s Luminosity Shimmer Stick. Forgive me, but I’d always been under the impression that a shimmery cream—outside of runways and photoshoots—could go terribly wrong, shockingly...
The 2011 Coachella Music Festival featured a DJ booth powered by an energy generating playground. Festival goers could choose from a series of different electricity producing installations that fed into a lithium-ion battery well, which powered the entire sound system. The booth was created by Global Inheritance in collaboration with Coachella to offer a unique way for music fans to educate themselves about renewable energy, all while supporting their favorite artists. In order to use the booth, each DJ required 21 or more dedicated friends to generate enough power to play their set. On stage beside the DJ booth were two human hamster wheels where...
When it comes to home audio systems, a bumpin’ subwoofer is a key part of the listening experience. However subwoofer cabinets can be hard on the eyes, which is why we like the Automan 500, an eco-subwoofer made entirely from a recycled tires. The chic concealed subwoofer is one of 18 finalists in this year’s Greener Gadgets Competition. For more info click HERE HIT FROM: Inhabitat.com...

Rodriguez DJ Tables can give you a solid wood, stainless steel, customized table with as many pedals and spaces as you want in circular styling. The reason for circles is to let people know that its about the records and vinyl you’ve accumulated over the years. That’s what DJing is all about. Prices range from $3,000 and $3,900....
Any restaurant that allows me to walk in casually wearing sneakers and carrying a skateboard is a friend of mine. Remix…Any restaurant that features its own sneaker and skateboard line is what I’d consider to be a very close friend of mine. But let’s not misread the subtext kids; entering a restaurant as such must be done effortlessly with style and class. Which is exactly what I did this past weekend as I “rode” into The Spotted Pig’s Restaurant, located on the quiet west village corner of W11th and Greenwich Street, and was greeted generously by their warm and laid...
There are many reasons that the hair on the back of your neck might stand up when someone says the words bottled water – all that wasted plastic, the people harmed in the making of said plastic, the communities ‘losing’ their water when it is bottled. But, sometimes you need portable water containers. (Okay, we admit that there are alternatives, but what if?) If that container was made from recycled paper instead, would you drink bottled water then? Some people see no problem with bottled water; in fact they think it’s their only option. Other people choose a portable container, but when push...
We’ve reported on the organic bubbly from Domaine Carneros – the only certified organic sparkling wine in the United States – before. Now, they are happy to report that theirsparkling wine is also vegan-friendly, and apparently always has been. Champagne and sparkling wine have animal products in them? Who knew? The entire estate at Domaine Carneros, including the grapes grown for their sparkling wine and their pinot noir, are all certified organic. While the grapes have been grown organically for the last twenty years, they didn’t get official California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) label until 2008. What Makes Their Sparkling Wine Organic? Wine...

How many of you hotel stayers have been noticing a new GREEN POLICY/GESTURE at most of your hotels? One would usually stumble upon such a “gesture” in your hotel bathroom printed upon a cardboard card resting against the sink mirror. It would tell you something like, “EVERYDAY IS EARTH DAY….” and then proceed to tell you that they do not collect and wash towels or sheets unless asked! In other words, they are saving energy and water by limiting their daily wash cycles and they are giving you the option to contribute to their fruitful goal or not. Now this...
When you hear the term ‘green restaurant’, greasy fast food chain McDonalds is pretty much the last thing that comes to mind. With a reputation for fostering obesity, bad health and environmental destruction by peddling rainforest grown meat, McDonald’s has been fighting a less-than-rosy public image for years. But now the country’s largest fast-food restaurant is hoping to change all that with the opening of their first ‘green’ restaurant in North Carolina — dubbed ‘green’ because the restaurant will offer electric vehicle charging. The McDonald’s features an array of green technologies and is designed to use as much daylight as possible, comes equipped...
