For college students eagerly waiting for their chance to see Young Money’s golden child they’re in luck. The changing climate is causing upheaval and unrest on a large scale–rising sea levels, more severe storms and flooding, and worse droughts are already rendering populated parts of the world uninhabitable. In some places, this is occurring just around, oh, right now. In order to raise awareness of their plight documentarian Michael Nash has created the film Climate Refugees. It’s an apolitical (interviews from both John Kerry and Newt Gingrich are included) look not at the intricacies of the science or government policy, but at what’s physically happening right now due to climate change. The film was an official selection at this...
It’s time to stop wishing for a medical answer to Africa’s medical crisis. Because one already exists. And while it’s only part of a larger solution, it can help millions already dying from AIDS to live dramatically longer and fuller lives. You can contribute to this just by lacing up a pair of shoelaces in your favourite shoes. Which means that just by going about your own life, you can help save someone else’s. Get involved like I did today. How it works You purchase (NIKE)RED laces. Nike is contributing 100% of its profits from the sale to the Global...
I was recently in San Francisco and couldn’t help but jump for joy when I saw two parking spaces designated specifically for electric car charging and parking. Weird how there are so many electric cars out there, yet this was the first time I ever came across such a parking space in a pubic garage. Not only was the ground marked in bold with “GREEN PARKING” but it was also one of the most convenient parking spaces in the lot. Just goes to show you people, another incentive to go green : ). *San Francisco Airport Parking Lot...
It’s the best when your favorite brands come out with ethical products. Products you can wear, look good in, that at the same time represent your views on some pretty big issues in life. Right now of course I am talking about the environment. It’s hard to always meet a product that does both. And it is not a crime to not always be able to represent your ethical viewpoints through your fashion. But here at GreenJAR we try to encourage you to keep these things at the the front of your decision making when shopping. These are a couple...
Idly browsing among some of the internet’s best shopping sites the other day in search for a pair of winter boots, I came across a very cool addition to SHOP BOP’S website. SHOP BOP has created an “EARTH FRIENDLY PAGE” just so that you can make shopping choices based on whats green and whats not. They give you the option to make environmentally conscious decisions while purchasing your favorite products. This is what it is all about! I’ll say it again and again, you don’t have to give up your style to start caring about the environment and making conscious...
