Save a Life and Get Free Basketball Tickets From Nothing but Nets

The new anti-malaria campaign, Nothing but Nets, is out just in time for the holiday season and really is the gift that keeps on giving. For a very small donation, you can save a life, or two, gift a gift to a friend, and get two free tickets to a basketball game. The more lives you protect, the more basketball tickets you get. Win, win win!!

Malaria is estimated to kill one child every 30 seconds. This is a crying shame considering that a simple, (cheap) bed net will drastically reduce that number. Now the NBA is getting involved with the United Nations Foundation in the cause and in getting the word out to protect people in areas with high malaria rates. 100% of the $10 donation goes to purchasing, delivering the bed nets and educating the community on how to use them.

For just $10USD, you can give the gift of an anti-malaria net, which will save at least one life. Instead of giving someone a donation in their name this holiday season, you can still give them the donation but also a pair of tickets to a basketball game too. Or, if basketball isn’t your game, you can purchase a Nothing but Nets t-shirt for $10 and still donate a bed net at the same time. Right now, for every net purchased Rick Reilly will match that one for one with an equal net. Rick Reilly is actually part of the inspiration behind the program, when in 2006 he wrote a column in Sport Illustrated urging all fans to donate just $10 to save a life with a simple bed net.

There is a bigger mission for this campaign besides just filling the stands at your local stadium. The UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency) is working to help protect over 1 million refugees in over 15 African countries from malaria. To do this, they need 160,000 bed nets by December 31. Currently they are just under 40% of their goal met and could use your help. Now is the time to give a gift that doesn’t break the bank, that saves a life, and that works to prevent disease. :Nothing but Nets
