Justin Timberlake’s Mirimichi golf course is now accepting tee time reservations. The eco-friendly course — the first in the nation to be designated as a certified Audubon International Classic Sanctuary — officially opens on July 25th. You can reserve your time now and avoid the rush by hitting up the new website here. Says Timberlake on the site, “As part of the renovation of the course, I started asking questions about whether you can turn a golf course into an eco-friendly place. It turns out you can. The clubhouse will be Platinum LEED certified when it is complete and that...
Oscilloscope Laboratories has picked up the rights to the No Impact Man documentary, based on the compulsive blog, that we’ve all been waiting for. Oscilloscope is the distribution label started by Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA, founding member of the Beastie Boys and a vocal environmental advocate (remember that movie he distributed about water that provoked Nestle in 2008?). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yauch said, in regard to No Impact Man, it was “the first time I’ve seen an environmentally concerned film with a strong comedic element. I still think about it every time I go to the supermarket.” Back...
Playboy bunnies that is. And the lettuce was bikini-shaped. Yes, it was PETA’s annual National Veggie Dog Day in the Capitol and Playmates Jayde Nicole and Jo Garcia were there, dressed up/down in their veggie regalia. According to PETA’s blog, “While serving up the “dogs” to politicians and passersby, Jayde reminded each person that “the best way to safeguard your health, reduce your carbon footprint, save animals’ lives, and look your very best is to go vegetarian.” This video from POLITICO shows some rather hilarious Beltway antics and, depending on where you work, might be somewhat NSFW. But every little...
A recent report shows that movie studios have diverted 63% (40.2 million pounds!) of their solid waste (read: sets and the like) to recycling processes rather than landfills. Because of these efforts, they’ve reduced emissions by an amount equal to removing 7,315 cars from the road, according to an April press release from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). This news slipped under the radar, as press releases from something called the “Solid Waste Task Force” are bound to. This group is actually a rather exciting and relevant joint program of the MPAA and the Alliance of Motion Picture...
ADIDAS SLVR has just released a preview of their UNLIMITED EDITION TEE for Fall! The single cut neckline and flutter short sleeves paired with large graphics gives this tee a modern look. This is released as a part of the line’s Fall/Winter 09 collection and will be available at select retailers and Adidas SLVR boutiques. I’m really really feeling it! And apparently so is KANYE: http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/?em3106=236512_-1__0_~0_-1_7_2009_0_0&em3298=&em3282=&em3281=&em3161=...
Last night two of my favorite passions came together: the environment and high end fashion. Louis Vuitton helped mark the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing with a beautiful star-studded party at the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. Their newest campaign, featuring Jim Lovell, commander of NASA’s Apollo 13 mission, Buzz Aldrin, the second man to set foot on the moon, and Sally Ride, the first woman in space, launched (no pun intended) last night as well. Television fashionistas Jessica Szohr and Whitney Port, singers Lance Bass, Estelle and Cassie, my bff June Ambrose, and a very pregnant Victoria’s...

This is one of my absolute favorite new New York City eco-companies. Tap It Water is a new site (iphone application available as well) that lets you know where in New York City you can find a tap that will allow you to refill your reusable bottles with clean NYcity H2O. Most of the locations are restaurants, stores, hotels, etc… that have a verbal agreement with the founders of Tap It Water to allow Tap It followers access to their clean water resources. It is an extremely smart idea that makes clean water accessible to everyone. We all know what...
We’ve been waiting a long time for these Melissa Ultragirl flats in super rare clear. Finally! These comfy eco-flats let you show off your summer pedicure through their frosty ice finish. And they feature the tiny peephole that is a signature Melissa touch. As Planet Green points out, eco-fashionistas have had to say no to jellies for a long time because of their earth-unfriendly factor, but Melissa has changed all of that. Their jellies are made out of MEFLEX, a patented non-toxic plastic and their factory runs on a closed loop system. Now you can have your jellies and eat them too! Well, not quite, but you...
You might not realize it because it seems like we can buy water just about anywhere, and for most of us GreenJAR readers, it flows non stop from our faucets at home. However while water is yes indeed a renewable resource it is one of the earth’s most limited resources. The world’s supply of clean, fresh water is steadily decreasing. Water demand already exceeds supply in many parts of the world and as theworld population continues to rise, so too does the water demand. Awareness of the global importance of preserving water for ecosystem services has only recently emerged and GreenJAR.net is going to continue to help advocate this...
