You might not realize it because it seems like we can buy water just about anywhere, and for most of us GreenJAR readers, it flows non stop from our faucets at home. However while water is yes indeed a renewable resource it is one of the earth’s most limited resources. The world’s supply of clean, fresh water is steadily decreasing. Water demand already exceeds supply in many parts of the world and as theworld population continues to rise, so too does the water demand. Awareness of the global importance of preserving water for ecosystem services has only recently emerged and GreenJAR.net is going to continue to help advocate this issue.
Maybe now it makes a little bit more sense as to why we continually spend $2, $3 on water bottles daily. A resource that is supposed to be free! In addition to the state of our economy, the prices of water are rising because companies understand just how limited of a resource it is! In addition to being expensive, water bottles are extremely hazardous for the environment and our health. The chemicals from the plastics of the water bottles not only seep into our sipping water but they take up to 700 years just to decompost in landfills. These are just a few reasons to get you thinking about what you’re spending your money on and all the waste your producing.
So what’s the solution. Well I am a huge advocate of reusable water bottles. Not a new phenomenon at all. But maybe now you’ll learn to appreciate them. While browsing SIGG’s website this weekend, I became an even bigger fan as I found all the great and fun designs they have created for just about every personality out there. And if the countless options of designs aren’t enough for you, you can even custom design your own bottle HERE.
Check it out people. If not me, then listen to Jeremih! Its an easy easy step to incorporate into your daily routine’s and start making into a habit, not to mention a new style accessory to add to your everyday wardrobe. I plan on decorating the all black one with stickers. What about you?! Below are some designs I thought were cool from SIGG’s online site.
