This is one of my absolute favorite new New York City eco-companies. Tap It Water is a new site (iphone application available as well) that lets you know where in New York City you can find a tap that will allow you to refill your reusable bottles with clean NYcity H2O. Most of the locations are restaurants, stores, hotels, etc… that have a verbal agreement with the founders of Tap It Water to allow Tap It followers access to their clean water resources. It is an extremely smart idea that makes clean water accessible to everyone. We all know what it is like to be thirsty walking around the city, have an empty water bottle in your hand and not feel like putting out two bucks for a new one.
Today the reasons to start using reused bottles are tripling daily. Scientists are constantly shelling out new ones, the plastic in water bottles is harmful to our health, water bottles take 700 years in landfills to decompost, and now the one that sadly might make the most sense to us…it’s cheaper to use reused water bottles with the economy the way it is, and water prices constantly on the uprise (especially for those fancy brands we love to buy) it’s time to incorporate this new habit into our daily routines.
So check out Tap It, enter your zip code, and you’ll learn where to start tapping it. Let me know your thoughts on this new but not so new concept.
