The folks at the Iowa State Fair were actually considering building a life-size butter sculpture of Michael Jackson to honor his memory. The project ended up getting nixed, but before that happened our friends at PETA offered some friendly advice.
PETA suggested fair planners use Earth Balance, a dairy-free natural “buttery” spread, instead. A letter to fair planners from Tracy Reiman, PETA Executive Vice President said,
“Making the statue out of cruel and unhealthy dairy products is simply a ‘bad’ idea. In honor of Michael’s concern for kids’ health, please use dairy-free butter for the statue — we’re sure you’ll find that you can’t ‘beat it.’”
Eco celebrity site ECORAZZI commented cleverly saying:
Unless you “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” we suggest you let this “Bad” idea lay to rest. Because the truth is you needn’t be “Black or White” to realize that only “Smooth Criminal(s)” support the dairy industry. And although Michael is “Gone Too Soon” we’re pretty sure he’d “Scream” or be totally “Speechless” if you tried to “Heal the World” with cruelty. But “Don’t Let It Get You Down,” this “Off the Wall” idea ain’t gonna happen.
What are your thoughts on the unsuccessful idea?
