Browsing the VANS site this morning I came across their GO GREEN LINE. The Go Green line stays true to the traditional feel of the shoe brand, embracing the slip on and the simplistic tie ups, while not changing the aesthetic or comfort that your used to. The difference in this case is that the line consists of a collection of about 12 shoes, all of which use totally recycled post-consumer materials, and eco friendly manufacturing methods. For example, take the Mesa shoe. “The Mesa is out to change the world one foot at a time.” With the Mesa, Vans teamed up with pro surfer NATHAN FLETCHER to redesign the Mesa into an anti-pollution superhero. Nathan helped VANS figure out how to transform everyday beach trash into fully functional and super comfy thermo-regulating fabric. “But don’t call it trash, ‘cuz the Mesa is part of a larger project Vans is doing to clean up beaches around the world.” …Buy them and they’ll donate a portion of the proceeds to The Surfrider Foundation.

My favorite though is the Info-3D spin which is your basic checkered Van which uses water-based glues and inks to make them, so they are eco-friendly and safe for the environment.
