The first one opened on Mar 09, 2009 in Northampton, Massachusetts. YUM said that this restaurant is its first effort to pursue certification under the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.
According to the company, highlights of the restaurant design can be categorized by several key aspects: reducing carbon footprint, water conservation and quality, and sensible building materials and resources use.
The restaurant, designed to use 30% less energy and water than a conventional building, also cuts CO2 emissions, reduces waste going to landfills/incinerators and educates visitors and employees on sustainable design, said Yum! Brands.
DEF JAM (Jana Fleischman) along with REDMAN and METHOD MAN made the conscious choice to include the greener (still just as tasty) KFC into the night’s festivities.
