Island Def Jam: Goes Green

Recording label Island Def Jam is launching a GREEN INITIATIVE as a part of it’s new Corporate Social Responsibility Program. The aim of Island Def Jam’s green initiative is to trailblaze environmentally-responsible initiatives within the recording sphere. A first for any record label!

To give you the skinny on what the initiative will entail…basically the program will start in the label’s private realm, as IDJ’s offices (both CA and NY) will enact a multitude of progressive initiatives (some continued from previous years) with it’s employees.

Pervasive tactics will include printer cartridge, paper and battery recycling, the exclusive use of recyclable pantry supplies, and two larger scale initiatives: an E-wave Drive to recycle unused computers and consumer electronics on Earth Day and an office “Lights Off” program during off peak business hours.

Phase two of this program will spread to the public sphere as well; IDJ will soon work towards incorporating more eco-conscious album packaging designs for all of their releases, producing eco-friendly events, and greener marketing strategies.

As you kiddies know, IDJ artist roster includes artists such as Mariah Carey, Melissa Etheridge, Bon Jovi, Rihanna, Kanye West, Young Jeezy, The Fall Out Boys, The Killers, Adrienne Baillon, Nas, Fabolous, Method Man & Red Man, The Roots, Juelz Santana, The Dream, Electrik Red, Chrisete Michelle, and Neyo to name a few.

You heard it here FIRST! GreenJAR will stay keeping you updated on the latest.
